Combat Poverty is a statutory organisation responsible for advising
the Irish Government on policies to reduce poverty in Ireland.
The advice we give is based on evidence drawn from our research
programme and from lessons emerging practical, innovative projects.
Since 1986 we have played a key role in influencing anti-poverty
policies and in raising public awareness of the existence and experience
of poverty in Ireland.
Poverty prevents people from reaching their full potential and
from participating fully in society. This has costs for individuals
and society.
Combat Poverty works to ensure that the elimination of poverty
remains a national priority, and that social and economic policies
are directed towards improving the lives of the most vulnerable
in Irish society.
