One of the four functions of Combat Poverty set out in the Combat Poverty Agency Act 1986 is "the promoting of greater public understanding of the nature, causes and extent of poverty in the State and the measures necessary to overcome such poverty". The Combat Poverty Agency is committed to promoting greater awareness and understanding of poverty and social exclusion in Ireland through the provision of relevant, accurate and up-to-date information on poverty, its causes and consequences and on measures necessary to eliminate it.
