Combat Poverty and the National Anti-Poverty Strategy
Combat Poverty promotes and supports the effective implementation of
NAPS at local, national and European levels.
- At a national level, Combat Poverty participates on the NAPS Technical
Advisory Group and carries out research, analysis and innovation on
poverty data, poverty and social indicators, poverty proofing and facilitates
the involvement of people experiencing poverty and their representative
organisations in anti-poverty work.
- The Local
Government Programme is a key support for the local implementation
of NAPS.
- At European level, Combat Poverty participates in transnational work
to identify and promote best practice in tackling poverty through the
Mainstreaming Social
Inclusion Programme.
- The Having
Your Say Programme was established in 2005 to strengthen the voice
of people living in poverty in the National Anti-Poverty Strategy at
local, regional and national levels. The Programme will provide funding
and development support to a number of initiatives aimed at actively
engaging people living in poverty in the development and implementation
of the NAPS.
Combat Poverty works closely with the Office for Social Inclusion (OSI)
in the Department of Social and Family Affairs. The Office's website www.socialinclusion.ie
has extensive information on the National Anti-Poverty Strategy, including
the full text of the Strategy and other NAPS-related documentation.
