Anti-Poverty Programmes

One of the four functions of Combat Poverty set out in the Combat Poverty Agency Act 1986 is "the initiation of measures aimed at overcoming poverty in the State and the evaluation of such measures". Since its inception Combat Poverty has devised, implemented and evaluated a number of programmes with the objective of developing best practice and drawing out lessons which contribute to the development of anti-poverty policy and practice. Our current programme work includes:

  • Working to strengthen the capacity of local government to tackle poverty
  • Addressing health inequalities through community development approaches
  • Working with transnational partners on an EU social inclusion project
